Sandoval County District Court Overview
The District Court is New Mexico's general-jurisdiction trial court. Thirteenth Judicial District
The Thirteenth Judicial District serves Cibola, Sandoval, and Valencia Counties. New Mexico statutes divide the state into 13 judicial districts, and the Thirteenth Judicial District is the regional trial-court district for Sandoval. Other district judges sit in Valencia or Cibola, but Sandoval has several judges seated at the Bernalillo courthouse.

Sandoval County Case Movement

Appeals from District Court generally go to the New Mexico Court of Appeals unless a category belongs directly in the Supreme Court. Appeals from lower courts can also come into District Court, so one case history may include both a lower-court file and a District Court appeal file.

Sandoval County District Programs
The Thirteenth Judicial District operates Sandoval County problem-solving courts that affect some criminal-case records and supervision paths. Mental Health Court is tied to Judge Christopher G. Perez and focuses on treatment compliance, supervision, frequent court appearances, and alternatives to incarceration or hospitalization. Adult Treatment Court is tied to Judge George P. Eichwald and focuses on substance-abuse response, reduced repeat offending, supervision, and aftercare planning.
